About

The idea for the blog started when I completed a course – Certificate in plant based nutrition:  Course link.

The course is based on the principles mentioned in the following books:

(this is not a complete list of the information covered in the course)

  • The China Study – Startling implications for diet, weight loss and long term health by Dr T Colin Campbell, PhD and Thomas M Campbell II:  Link
  • Solving America’s Healthcare Crisis by Dr Pamela A Popper, PhD, ND
  • The Pleasure Trap – Mastering the Hidden Force that Undermines Health & Happiness by Douglas J Lisle, PhD and Alan Goldhamer, DC
  • Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease: The Revolutionary, Scientifically Proven, Nutrition-Based Cure by Caldwell B Esselstyn, Jr, MD
  • Program for Reversing Diabetes by Neal D Barnard, MD:  Link

This blog will serve as a repository of useful and interesting information related to a whole foods, plant-based lifestyle.  I will also include information about vegan related issues, animal rights and environmental issues that all tie in to the whole foods, plant-based, a.k.a. vegan lifestyle.

To your good health, the health of the planet and compassion for animals.

Enjoy.

You have a cool blog! I am not a vegan but do make, eat & cook & bake vegan 5x/week! Come on over & check my entry for the VVP out!

  2. It’s awesome that you completed the Cornell course on plant-based nutrition. I’ve been following a plant-based diet for just over a year. What got me started down this path was taking a healthy cooking class at Whole Foods Market. I love eating this way (although I’ll admit it was a tough transition!). And once I stopped eating animals, my compassion for them grew as well so now I’m also an ethical vegan. I love connecting with other like-minded people. I’m so excited to e-meet you! And your blog is wonderful – the Ooey Gooey Chocolate Pudding Cake you made for the pot luck looks amazing!!! Celeste:)

    • Aaaw thanks! It is so great that the VVP allows us all to connect with like minded people. I also find it interesting when people change to a plant-based diet (for health reasons) over time also become more aware of the ethical side of the diet and then gradually transition to a vegan lifestyle. Compassionate people rock (this VVP community is a fine example of it)!
